Super Saturday

Today was a beautiful day after days of inclement weather. It was a bright sunny and still day which we enjoyed by having a family day out. This was at the suggestion of the children-no arm twisting required.

Part one was a trip to Kilbirnie to watch MSP play their local rivals Poneke. The Marist boys won of course.

Part two was a celebratory pint and chips at ‘The Brewery’. The game was worth celebrating and Sara is still celebrating the return of her freedom post PhD submission.

Part three was to order the take-away curry.

What more do you want in life?

That wedding

We did not go celebrate but to enjoy the party.

Sara went as ‘his’ brother in army gear by borrowing Joe’s kit, including his boots.

I wore a circa 77 T shirt with my hair gelled and sprayed red. However the children told me there was so little hair that it was difficult to actually gel it, and that it was more a spraying of scalp than hair. My jeans were ripped but the trainers did not look so authentic.

The party was good fun, and watching a lot of numpties standing on the streets of London was bearable. New Zealand seems to be interested without being too carried away. That is something at least.

God save the queen
The fascist regime
They made you a moron
Potential H-bomb
God save the queen
She ain’t no human being
There is no future
In England’s dreaming
Don’t be told what you want
Don’t be told what you need
There’s no future, no future,
No future for you

ANZAC Ceremony

Today the family went to the later official ceremony at the Wellington Cathedral as EQ was due to be laying the wreath at the Cenotaph , with others in the “leadership team”, on behalf of the school. It was raining hard so the whole ceremony was indoors. EQ did not get to be one of the two to walk up the aisle, but it did not matter.

The whole event was a good experience. I captured the last post, but other parts of the recording did not work.

We have come home and just to keep the flavour of the day, we have watched episodes from “Dad’s Army”

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to you all.

Today has been a lovely day. This morning involved a trip to mass for the boys in the house. EQ was engaged working in the cafe, and Shazz was busy preparing lunch.

The boys still wanted to do the easter bunny egg hunt after a little persuasion, and I found the most eggs, but was forced into sharing my bounty.

This afternoon we had a lovely lunch with some friends. Good food supplied by SQ and the Lowndes and nice chat, beer and wine.

Tomorrow is ANZAC day, as well as Easter Monday. This being NZ there is no extra day to compensate for 2 holidays falling on one day-unlike Australia.
