Morning Walk

Day two of the new routine. A beautiful morning to explore some areas near the house that we have not been to before.

We also enjoyed the watching two fighter jets on a training run. Lots of noise and some low flying at one point.

Listen to the noise:

And follow the small dots across the sky:

Mr gutter man

I chose to put some guttering up to hopefully help with the drainage and wetness under the barns. Plus to collect water for the future growing zone.

I am quite pleased with the results. It does work after some tinkering.

Certainly cheaper me doing it than using the professionals.

More renovation, more dollars.

Just to document activity at St. Gilles

So the men are in putting a new false wall in room 4- to improve the insulation and start our moves to change the room. The other is to fill a whole in the wall following the removal of the old hot water tank. However, the insulation was of poor quality and so is being replaced fully.

And progress so far

Let’s hope it is worth it in terms of added comfort and lower power bills

EQ in Paris

A couple of weeks ago now- late again. But EQ’s first visit to the world renowned capital, with a contribution from mum.

Friday evening was one of those classic(cheesy?) boat trips on the Seine. But good fun and added entertainment of disagreements amongst the staff!

The wet zone

Back to the garden.

As the land gets so wet in the autumn and winter such that, the pond area overflows with water and the area adjacent becomes the supplementary pond, we decided to put in plants that should tolerate the water well and fight the overwhelming grass. So to a wet garden zone.

The first stage has been to clear the area of grass: cutting first and digging out the roots next. And so the area looks like:

So the earth is prepared and we await the new plants- about 300euro worth!

Let’s hope it works.

Lac de Guerlédan

A scorching day – 32C and time to try out the locale after spending so much time doing jobs.

Only just over 5km but a lot of effort in the heat. Lunch at Beau Rivage.
