EQ in Paris

A couple of weeks ago now- late again. But EQ’s first visit to the world renowned capital, with a contribution from mum.

Friday evening was one of those classic(cheesy?) boat trips on the Seine. But good fun and added entertainment of disagreements amongst the staff!

Eiffel goes by

Lac de Guerlédan

A scorching day – 32C and time to try out the locale after spending so much time doing jobs.

Only just over 5km but a lot of effort in the heat. Lunch at Beau Rivage.

Recent visit

I recently went to say hello.

As ever it was a bit sad. Not because of M&D but because of the unattended graves – people who were interred at the same time as my dad. The child of three months and the woman in her 50s who have never had a permanent headstone. Sad.

Visitor

The lad came to stay for nearly a week. He was lovely company, a good worker painting the kitchen and we managed a day out to the Pink Granite Coast.

I have to admit my memory failed a bit and we went to the wrong place first. In the end we managed to find Trégastal. The weather was not quite scorching but did improve. Nice desert.

Marlborough Sounds

For us a place revisited. We arrived on Wednesday evening to take the water taxi to the start of the Queen Charlotte track. It was ANZAC morning with the participants still around.

A selection of views of our two days of walking from Sip Cove to Punga Cove via Furneaux Lodge. Beautiful scenery as ever but disappointment with the change in accommodation sites and their costs and the expense of the water taxis.

The walk and lodges were busy even this time of year. I assume somewhat intolerable in January and February.

And while we were waiting for the taxi back came the people with clearly too much money.

And followed for us by the great views from the boat.

Greytown

Mum, Dad and JQ arrived yesterday to the house we have been fortunate to use before.

The weather is currently fine, hot with only a little wind. A long run was had this morning before it came too hot. All three of us went out run on the old railway path.

I am pleased with my efforts- though the last 1 Km was hard. I think progressing well enough for the ‘Round the Bays’.

As, as the photo above shows we have been temporarily re-united with our Canada inspired chairs. Lovely.

Running

The preparation for the Round the Bays 2024 remains in progress. Today was a shorter effort but with periods of speed between the posts. Loving the current environment and routes. Hataitai beach very busy today

So on schedule I think.
