The final countdown

Today we, that is Shaz and I, fly out of Wellington on our way to the UK via Asia.So the next stage of our journey starts.

Everyone has their new journey. EQ is in Hamburg and ready to start here new Masters course, Joe has his OE planned from April and Isaac off to study in the Netherlands he hopes. All he needs to do is finish the portfolio and apply!

Exciting and nervous times all at once.

Back in action-resumé

Again a long time since being able to post. A number of factors, firstly due to a lack of time with being on holiday in Australia en famille in Melbourne and Apollo Bay in country Victoria. The Ashes were on and Joe and I thought another trip to the MCG would be worth it and good value. In the end not to bad.

The principal reason for the delay was the changing of the host for the blog. The change was made for good reason-cost. Hosting for 3 years for the cost of one previously. However the transfer did not so smoothly and I had to pay to have that done- so not so much of a saving in the end! All took time too.

Plus there is a lot going on with moving. Wow.

Auckland trip

So Joe Sara and l are here for game one.

After a good win against the Maori NZ team last week and a solid performance and win against a weakened Chiefs team, we arrive with confidence of at least a competitive match ahead.

So a rushed get away from work to the airport yesterday then with a bit of a delay. A long trip on the bus from Auckland airport was followed by a good meal at an Israeli restaurant. Something different but good.

Now fun and shopping today before the Warriors game.

Momentous time

Catholic school board fees- the final invoice.

As Catholic schools are partially outside the public schooling system they have to pay for the construction and upkeep of the school buildings. As such parents are expected to pay school board fees that pay back loans for these activities and cover the insurance. So we have been paying these for the last fourteen years. The final invoice arrived and has been paid. Isaac won a prize last year which cut the bill in half -so less than usual.

I am sure the money will disappear in some other way to support his studies in future.

Round the Bays active family

Last weekend was the annual fun run and serious run in Wellington. In total about 10,000 people participated; about 2,000 each for the 10km and the half-marathon. Eleanor and Joe each did the ‘half’ while Shaz did the 10k.

All did well with Joe and EQ running in less than 2 hours and Sara beating last year’s time by a bit. Joe was possibly more comfortable at the finish than Eleanor. Good stuff by all concerned though.

Sven was in the crowd cheering on heartedly though maybe too American-like for me. Isaac was watching too as he apparently does not like running. I had planned to run but again the body showed its vulnerability and injuries to the achilles and calves proved to be limiting.

Maybe in June I can have a go if the body improves? Maybe the old man needs to fins something more suited to later years of life?

Lesson One

Isaac earned his learner’s licence today and so we had his first lesson in the Fiesta.

Automatic transmission for him to make life more easy and a succesful lesson of about 25 minutes. Until the next….
