RWC weekend

The action hots up this weekend in Wellington with a game tonight and a game on Sunday.

Sara and Joe are at the stadium now awaiting the start of the USA v Australia game, it being Sara’s turn to soak up the live action.

Tomorrow is a hot action day with England in action on the telly and then the big France v All Blacks game at night. We are planning to go down town the the “fan zone” and watch the game with the throng on the big screen and soak up the atmosphere.

Sunday Scotland play Argentina at the stadium but we are not there. A tv game again then.

Is there a risk on being “all rugby-ed out”?

Belle of the Balls

Last weekend was a busy time for the glam belle of the house. She was out two nights on the bounce.

On Friday she was a guest at Scots College with its late night. Then Saturday was her own school ball with the requisite pre-ball and after ball and late home coming. Sara was there for the pre-ball and Isaac was busy being a waiter.

The afternoon had been spent with a premium make-up session and  hairstyling.

She was tireed on Sunday-I am not sure wwat time she came home.

Hats off to Isaac

To maintain the alternative theme here is a note to recognise Isaac’s swimming exploits. He has not been noted for his strong swimming or indeed marked interest  in swimming. However, on Thursday he represented his school in the all-Wellington competition. He came 5th in the freestyle final and 4th in the backstroke final. I think some of the significant opposition were in a different category but all the same-well done.

Grandma

It’s not all rugby-but this is a related story.

Last weekend Sara had a further reminder of the previous stage in our lives when we were in charge of toddlers.

She was in charge of the two boys while their parents were in New Plymouth to watch Ireland win handsomely (hmm?). She spent plenty of time running around after the little people with some help from me. There was deja vu on Sunday when we took them to the pool. Splashing around in the shallows, using the slides and not having a swim.

There day did start a little earlier than usual, but thankfully for us they had more of a lie in than usual.

Quality pool game

Just in from the Wales v SA game. Great game and atmosphere. I am sure there were more Wales supporters in the stadium than supporters for the Boks.

Wales played and open style with some speed to stretch the big Springboks. However, I think they needed more guidance at 10 to use their possession more wisely.

So Joe and I had a good trip, though home somewhat late for a Sunday.

Here is the Welsh anthem.

A shocker

An abysmal performance, so much so, that I hardly managed a shout at the TV. Post match on Sky Stuart Barnes had nothing positive to say regarding the England performance and additionally that the pre-RWC discussion of England’s chances was all hype. Looks to be true. Even as an armchair pundit it is clear to see that concerns regarding selection choices and attitude towards playing methods have come home to roost.

At this rate following Tonga may be a better choice.
